Eggs of a different color!

When we buy our baby chicks we are all excited with the fuzzy little babies and how needy they are to brood, clean and care for. Weeks later we turn our teenagers out into the coop, all gangling with feathers every which way, and hope nothing eats them. But when our young full grown hens start laying eggs, it is a day to Celibate! Success!

What color of eggs do you want?
Each breed of chicken is unique to it's egg color. You have the most common Brown Egg and White Egg from common or production hens. But in the back yard flock you can have a basket full of color every day!

I have people tell me they can taste the difference, in the different color of eggs. I honestly can say, I have never been able to tell one from another. BUT I can tell you if they are store bought eggs!

This week in our Brooder we have those Chicks!
Cuckoo Maran: Dark Brown Egg
Brown Leghorn: White Egg
Ameraucana: Green to Blue
Olive Eggers: Shades of Green from dark to light
Cream Legbar: mostly Baby Blue, but can also be light green/blue

Everything else in our brooder this week lays brown eggs.

FACT: Once a chicken lays a certain color egg (brown, green or blue) it always lays that color egg.
